SSHINE/Shared
Decision Making Committee looking for parent and student participation
The SSHINE (Students, Staff and Sponsors Helping Improve New Environments)
and Shared Decision Making Committee at the high school is seeking more
student and parent participation in the group.
SSHINE has also created the “Shining Stars” display in the
main lobby at the high school and is also looking for other noteworthy
achievements for this display. Achievements that would be considered include
Eagle Scout accomplishments, equestrian, karate, archery and accomplishments
of S-G graduates, including military service.
SHARED DECISION MAKING (SDM)
Also called SSSHINE
Who
are we?
We are a group of students, parents, faculty, staff and administrators
who meet on a monthly basis to discuss school policy and climate. We are
a very positive bunch!
When do we meet?
We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at the High School, Room B2,
at 2:45. Meetings generally last about an hour.
What do we do?
We make changes and recommendations for school policies/rules. We attempt
to come up with ideas that will foster a positive school climate. To this
end, we raise money for our projects, sell school shirts and jackets in
the bookstore, and recognize SG students, parents and staff for positive
accomplishments that are not always heard about. We have a beautiful “SSShining
Stars of Scotia” Display Case, across from the Main Office for this
purpose. We are always looking for more folks to recognize. Please let
us know.
Just download this form (it's
a pdf) and fill in this nomination form on the bottom. Drop it off at
the High School or give it to an SDM/SSSHINE member.
How do you join?
Just come to our next meeting or sign up today. It will be held on Tuesday,
December 5, in Room B2, at the High School, beginning at 2:45. Call the
High School @ 382-1231 for more information. Hope to see you there.
Parents, students and community members may contact Peter Sheridan,
academic head for social studies, at the high school at 382-1231.
